We are a family of four from Southern California embarking on a journey to travel the globe over a one year span.  No official work  for the parents, but plenty of schooling along the way for the teenagers. Parents, too.   We are giving ourselves a chance to explore beyond our comfortable borders. We plan to deepen our connection with our children and with the world.  We are most certain our travels will be an invaluable experience taking them into adulthood.

We decided to take a family gap year in 2020, but there was this thing called, Covid -19 that “locked down” our dreams for a moment.   Moving forward to 2022  we are finally taking the plunge.   When you keep talking about a project, eventually you have to walk the walk.  And, literally,  we will be WALKING.

After a long hiatus of overseas travel  (2 years doesn’t seem that long in real terms), we will start in France to see family  and friends.  Our first stop on this one  year journey will be walking the Camino de Santiago via the Camino Frances.  This pilgrimage can be done in many ways – biking, horse back, and walking.  The 500 mile journey should take about 30-45 days.  Yes, you read that correctly- 500 miles!!!

There are many questions to ask and many answers that lead to more questions.  Stay tuned for updates.  The kids will be updating the site with their account of our daily adventures and musings.  This will be  part of their ongoing education in language arts of English et Francais.
